We just added a new section to the employee portal so check out “AWC Projects” and see what’s happening on the jobs.

Year-End Wrap Up

2020 has been challenging to say the least, but American West Construction has weathered the storm incredibly well thanks to our people. While we wish we could celebrate our successful year with a big holiday party, we feel the better approach is to minimize risk to keep everyone healthy and working. We hope that you will enjoy this short video we made to try to give a sense of connection in this unprecedented time where we can’t really connect. We want everyone to know how much we appreciate your hard work and dedication to the company.

August Company Update

We’ve finished some great projects and started some great new ones. We have plenty of work now and in the near future. Thanks to the crews out there getting these jobs done and thanks to the estimating team for continuing to bring work in. We want to welcome all our new employees and congratulate the ones that were promoted.

Remember, keep those masks on when you’re on the job and if you feel sick, stay home! The pandemic is not over and we must continue to follow all the guidelines to keep safe and to continue to operate the business.

July Company Update

The pandemic has not disappeared so we need to continue to wear masks, social distance, and be aware of any symptoms that might present. If you feel sick or have any symptoms, do not come into work. Call your supervisor to discuss it. If you have come into contact with anyone that has the virus, let your supervisor know before coming to work.

Safety is a priority at American West Construction and we are disappointed to report a serious accident involving one of our employees and a water truck. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries but the truck was totaled in the rollover crash. The driver of the vehicle had been drinking on the job. As a reminder, the use of any substance that impairs your ability to safely and legally do your job is not allowed. If you are struggling with addiction or other issues that are negatively affecting your job performance, please let us know so we can assist you in getting appropriate assistance.

We are finishing up some great projects this month and have had some big wins at the bid table including a job that will provide work through the end of next year and allow us to bill over nine million dollars for the work. We are excited about this project and feel we are on a good path to keep everyone busy.

June Company Update

The office at American West Construction has reopened but there are some new policies and procedures to be aware of when you come in.

  1. Please enter the building through the front doors so you can get checked in at the front desk.
  2. You must wear a mask while in the office.
  3. Maintain at least six feet of social distancing when interacting with others in the office.

We are finishing up several jobs this month and are starting several more. Although the economy has entered a recession, we continue to bid and win new jobs. As more businesses reopen and start to get back to work, opportunities for us will grow and we are confident that we will have plenty of work to keep everyone busy.

May Company Update

The governor has put his “Safer At Home” policy in place which means businesses will slowly be opening again. We must continue to do our part to ensure that there isn’t a resurgence so continue to practice social distancing, wash those hands, and wear those masks, especially on the job sites. This pandemic has caused a lot of stress for everyone. Take a moment to realize the stress you may be dealing with and address it accordingly. Remember, we will get through this!

We are finishing up some great projects and starting several new ones. The economy has taken a hit during this crisis and we are all uncertain of how it will rebound. However, we continue to bid work and have a good backlog of work established. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for a positive outcome as the state slowly opens up and returns to some normalcy.

April Company Update

Wear your mask, is the message for April. Following the governor’s recent request that masks be worn when going out in public, American West Construction has implemented a mask policy on all jobs. We want to do our part to keep the spread of the coronavirus as low as possible. Wearing masks on the job site, practicing social distancing, and washing hands will help in the effort and show the public that we’re being responsible on the job.

Colorado is doing great in the fight of this virus and we are proud of everyone at AWC for doing their part when at work. We are fortunate to be an essential business. Our efforts to follow the rules on the job site will help us continue to our essential business status and keep everyone employed.

Keep up the great work and continue to be safe out there!

COVID 19 – Shelter-in-Place Order

On March 25th, the governor of Colorado issued a “Shelter-in-Place” order for all of Colorado through April 11, 2020. Click here to read the executive order.

Construction is exempt from this order so we can continue to do our work. However, we all must observe and practice all of the safety/preventative measures outlined by the CDC to combat the spread of the virus. Please be mindful to keep at least six feet of distance between you and others at all time. Wash your hands frequently and do not congregate in groups (Ten or more people). Most importantly, if you feel sick, have a fever, body aches, trouble breathing or a cough, please stay home. Click here for instructions on what to do if you’re feeling sick.

It is of the utmost importance to follow the safety guidelines set forth to protect yourself, your coworkers, and your job. We will get through this but we all need to do our part.

 March Company Update

The Coronavirus takes the spotlight in our company update for March. AWC realizes just how serious the impact of the Covid 19 virus is to our economy, health, and mental well being. We put a plan together to do our part to quickly respond to the concerns of this situation. You can click here to see the plan.

The office is closed with just a skeleton crew handling the crucial day-to-day activities and others working remotely from home.

In the field, it’s business as usual since there is ample space for social distancing. We have a lot of jobs to work on now and throughout the year and we want to make sure our employees are safe and healthy.

Please follow all the safety/preventative recommendations both on and off the job site. The faster this virus is eliminated, the faster we return to our normal lives.

February Company Update

January was a great month for us and a great start to 2020.

We picked up two new projects and our billing was incredible thanks to the hard work and extra hours of our crews. A huge thanks to everyone that worked weekends in January!

Remember: slips, trips, and falls can and do present a danger on the job site. Nothing we do at American West Construction is more important than your safety, so be aware, and make your safety a priority when you’re on the job.
