West Tollgate Culvert Lining – Aurora, Colorado
In early 2010, AWC rehabilitated 3,000 linear feet of 120″ corrugated metal pipe with a high density polyethylene pipe for the City of Aurora, Colorado.
The project involved lining 3,000 linear feet of 120” corrugated metal pipe (CMP) storm sewer. Originally designed as an aluminized steel pipe lining, AWC proposed and the City of Aurora accepted a value-engineered design change to line the existing CMP with a high density polyethylene (HDPE) liner pipe. AWC excavated several insertion pits to install the sections of HDPE liner pipe, fuse welded the liner pipes together in the host pipe, and advanced the liner forward. Once completed with the lining, AWC grouted the space between the host pipe and the new liner pipe with a light weight, cellular grout. Throughout construction, AWC maintained active storm sewer flows in the 120” CMP host pipe.
