Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance on a mixed fleet of heavy construction equipment such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, and Volvo. The work includes maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and welding. The equipment includes excavators, loaders, scrapers, dozers, and off road trucks as well as pickups, pumps, and generators. The majority of the equipment repairs takes place in the field. The position includes operating and maintaining a medium duty mechanic truck and other duties as assigned. The position typically requires 50-60 hours per week.
The position requires 5 years of relevant heavy equipment maintenance experience, your own tools, a valid driver’s license, and a clean motor vehicle record. The ideal candidate would have formal diesel mechanic training or specific on the job training to include maintenance and repair of hydraulic and electrical systems. A commercial driver’s license and certified welding experience are pluses. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and good sense of humor.
